After Care
Protect the Boat You Love, Season After Season
Artisan Boatworks offers comprehensive off-season “mooring-to-mooring” storage and maintenance services.
Purpose-Built Winter Storage for Wooden Boats
Improper winter storage is one of the most common and damaging threats to wooden boats. Heated buildings, concrete floors, outdoor storage, and uncontrolled environments accelerate drying, leading to excessive seam movement, paint failure, loosened fastenings, and long-term structural damage. These effects accumulate slowly but relentlessly.
Our purpose-built storage facilities were designed specifically for wooden boats. Boats are stored on gravel or dirt floors in well-ventilated, unheated buildings with controlled humidity, insulated roofs, and no direct sunlight. This environment minimizes seasonal moisture fluctuation and allows wooden hulls to remain stable over time. Boats stored with us for many years, including vessels kept out of the water for extended periods, show no signs of drying or deterioration.
